Clue is a popular period-tracking app which allows users to track their menstrual cycles and other related health metrics on Clue’s mobile app.

Privacy Policy

Data Collection

The three types of data collected by Clue are: 1) account data, 2) usage data including how you interact with products, browser information, and IP address, and 3) health data including your cycle information, weight, body temperature, sexual activity), and more that is manually entered in your app or imported from integrates such as an Apple Watch.

Data Sharing

Clue offers integrations to track your data through Apple Health and Oura Ring. Users will approve such sharing. If you connect your social accounts like Facebook, Apple, or Google through log-in, Clue will exchange with those platforms the types of data you used to create an account. According to their privacy policy, Clue will not share your health data with any of these sites.

Clue partners with Wellhub, their payment provider paddle, and customer support services from Slack and Zendesk through Growthdot which anonymizes customer support communications at the end of the retention period.

Clue also teams up with research partners in and out of the EU and shares data “directly relevant to the research question and follow[s] strict protocols to ensure your data always remains anonymous to the researchers.”

For advertising purposes, Clue uses third party providers including Apple Search Ads and Google Ads, as well as the in-app performance and analysis service Adjust, advertising service Taboola, user experience studies provider UserTesting, and similar third party marketing and technology vendors.

Privacy Rights

You can ask questions about or exercise your privacy rights at trust@helloclue.com. The privacy policy does not explicitly state whether American users have the right to request deletion, obtainment, correction, or pausing of their personal and health data, although this is offered to EU consumers in compliance with the GDPR.

Data Security

Clue’s data servers are routinely verified by experts and data is not retained in an identifiable for “longer than necessary to deliver [app] services.”
