Fitbit, now owned by Google, is a line of wearable activity-tracking devices which measure your fitness and vitals, as well as an accompanying Fitbit app and fitbit premium featuring fitness routines and fitness trainers through the platform.

Data Collection

Fitbit collects your account information; additional information including manually entered data like logs for food, weight, sleep, water, or female health tracking; information about your plans, goals, and actions you record with your coach if you use live coaching services; device and geolocation information; and usage information including IP addresses, browser information, and more.

The information received from third parties if you choose to connect your account to services like Facebook and Google may include name, profile picture, age, and friend list. You can also allow Fitbit to access your excericse or activity data from another service.

Data Sharing

Fitbit never sells the personal information of users. It will share data when you agree or direct the company to share, for external processing to corporate affiliates, service providers, and other partners for marketing, data analysis, research, survey, payment, IT, customer support, and sales purposes.

Privacy Rights

You have the right to access and export, edit and delete, object to, and retain data.You can access and control your personal data section through your account or contact Fitbit’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) at data-protection-office@fitbit.com.

Data Security

Fitbit uses a combination of technical, administrative, and physical controls to maintain the security of your data. This includes using Transport Layer Security (“TLS”) to encrypt many services.
