WHOOP

The WHOOP Strap wrist wearable monitor tracking your “sleep, strain, recovery and health.” WHOOP Coach is a generative AI feature that leverages third-party AI technology provided by WHOOP’s LLM partner, which adopts a “Zero-Retention/Zero Training Policy” with respect to your WHOOP metrics, meaning that they will not store or retain any of the anonymized WHOOP metrics they receive through your use of WHOOP Coach.

Data Collection

Personal data is collected from users, the WHOOP Strap or other wearable devices, the WHOOP Coach services, automatic data collection, customers and partners including employers, insurance companies, coaches, teams, or other organizations, marketing and advertising partners, social media and other third-party platforms you may link to your WHOOP account, and data providers such as information services and data licensors.

Personal data collected includes your name, profile data, communications, Wellness Data including a large number of metrics such as “resting heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, blood oxygen saturation level and acceleration; metadata on workouts and sleep; the type of physical activity you engage in and the duration of your activity; data reflecting strain and recovery; your physiological profile, including birthday, gender identity, weight, height, fitness/athlete level (e.g., professional or recreational); and details you choose to submit about your diet, medications, and female health tracking.”

WHOOP also collects payment and transactional data, marketing device, device data, geolocation data, and online activity data. (That’s a lot of data!)

Data Sharing

WHOOP may share personal data with service providers such as payment processors, vendors, security and fraud prevention consultants, hosting and other tech and communications, analytics providers, and more; advertising partners; professional advisors such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers; authorities including law enforcement in “good faith”; business transferees; distributions and retailers; and affiliates of WHOOP.

Depending your use, you may share your data with other users, third-party social media platforms or linked accounts, the public, managing entities, and corporate wellness programs.

Privacy Rights

You can access, update, or delete your data, change your privacy settings such as your WHOOP searchability, customize your push notifications and device permissions, allow or disallow geolocation data and wellness data, choose whether or not to interact with WHOOP coach, opt out of marketing communications and online tracking, and more.
